Setting up a working model that allows a paperless system throughout the patient journey involving linking this to an electronic referral system.
It is a very positive development that many services across the NHS are going paperless.Â
Despite the ‘green’ aspect this also saves money on paper, printer ink and printers, scanners and photocopiers.
Systmone and e-refer (Choose and Book) have been key players in facilitating this paperless transformation in community services.
Systmone allows paperless electronic diaries and note keeping along with an advanced reporting system on all aspects of the business. Â This includes quantitive data around patients passing through the system, the number of times they have been seen along with many other statistics vital to performance reporting such as time from referral to first appointment, time to contact a patient and time to send discharge letters amongst many more.
Other forms of data captured can be through the note keeping aspect around pain scores, objective measures and ‘Health Today’ scores such as the EQ5D score and prompts can be set up to remind clinicians to input the data correctly so reporting is accurate.
The e-referal system once known as Choose and Book links brilliantly with Systmone allowing an electronic referral to automatically slot into the Systmone diary. Â This can work with great efficiency in direct referrals to a service but also with systems such as the Single Point of Access. Â An electronic triage system which is becoming more widely used across NHS services to ensure patients are assessed and referred to the right place at the right time.
Jo Keller has worked for many years setting up diary, note keeping and reporting templates on Systmone.  She has worked with the performance teams to ensure the templates she has written encapsulate the data which is required  to produce monthly performance reports which she has regularly presented at senior leadership team and board level.
She has also worked with services to link the Systmone and e-refer electronic systems to ensure all data is captured and triaged in a fail safe and timely way.
